Neve 88RLB Microphone Preamplifier

The Neve 88R console has been a cornerstone of top-tier studio recording and mixing for the past two decades, playing a crucial role in producing countless hits and film scores. Now, with the Neve 88RLB, studios of all sizes can access the world-class Neve® recording quality, as it uses the same preamp circuitry and components as the 88R console.

Like the Neve 88RS console preamp, the Neve 88RLB features a custom Marinair® transformer to balance the microphone input stage, delivering subtle warmth and tonality to signals while maintaining transparency across a wide frequency range.

The microphone preamp offers up to 70dBu of gain through the transformer-balanced input, followed by an electronically balanced output stage that ensures ultimate transparency when connecting to audio interfaces, analogue outboard gear, or tape machines.

Three combined input connections provide an ideal platform for recording various instruments – dynamic, condenser, or ribbon microphones, line-level devices like synthesizers or drum machines, and high-impedance instruments.

The Re-Gen function enhances the Neve 88RS console preamp capabilities, allowing line and DI signals to benefit from the Marinair® transformer coloration. This feature adds the signature Neve® console sound to instruments or synthesizers at the push of a button.

The Neve 88RLB also includes the same variable high pass filter as the renowned Neve 88RS console, sweeping from 31.5 to 315Hz, perfect for tuning out unwanted bass frequencies when recording higher register instruments.

Intelligent switching prevents phantom power from affecting line or DI signals at the front or rear inputs; +48V is only supplied to the microphone connection, protecting sensitive analogue equipment. Additionally, the 88RLB features a -20dB pad and a 180-degree phase invert switch, usable on Mic, Line, or DI signals.

The Neve 88RLB integrates seamlessly into your studio, ready to go via the rear inputs. The switchable front input allows for quick recording by connecting directly into the front of the unit.
