The Grace Design m701 is a modular, high-channel-count audio interface purpose-built for professional and commercial recording studios. Marking Grace Design’s debut in complete interface design, the m701 delivers exceptional AD/DA conversion integrated into a flexible and customisable platform. Its modular design ensures versatility, making it ideal for everything from compact in-the-box setups to expansive hybrid studios.
Grace Design has been integrating AD/DA conversion into its mic preamps and monitoring systems since the early 2000s. While converter chips have become highly advanced over the years, achieving outstanding audio quality still demands expert design of surrounding components. The m701 exemplifies this expertise with meticulously engineered analogue input and output circuitry, precision clocking, and robust power supply design, resulting in a transparent and musical sound that upholds Grace Design’s reputation for excellence.
The m701 offers eight card slots that can be populated with any combination of 8-channel ADC and DAC modules, allowing users to tailor the interface to their specific requirements. Digital I/O options include two 32-channel module slots compatible with Digilink, Dante, USB2 (upcoming), Ravenna/AES67/ST2110, and future formats. A third option slot supports additional digital expansions, such as a 24-channel AES3 module, Word Clock distribution, or future monitoring enhancements. Standard digital I/O includes 8-channel AES, 8-channel ADAT, and 2-channel S/PDIF, while optional high-quality 4-channel mic preamp modules can also be installed in any of the eight slots.
The m701 can be configured and operated either from its intuitive front panel or through GraceNet, a built-in web-based control system accessible via any browser without additional software. Both interfaces offer comprehensive metering for all inputs and outputs alongside full configuration options. GraceNet also provides integrated control for Grace Design’s m108 mic preamps, ensuring seamless operation across your studio.
A built-in 32×8 mixer delivers multiple low-latency cue mixes for tracking, accessible to artists through GraceNet on personal devices such as tablets or smartphones, enhancing workflow efficiency.
Housed in a rugged 2U chassis, the m701 is built to endure the demands of professional environments. It features a high-quality dual-redundant power supply and ultra-quiet cooling for reliable operation. To reinforce its durability, the m701 is backed by a transferable 5-year warranty covering all parts and labour.
The Grace Design m701 sets a new benchmark for professional audio interfaces, offering unparalleled flexibility, pristine audio quality, and robust reliability for modern recording facilities.
