d&b Audiotechnik 40D Amplifier

The d&b Audiotechnik 40D Amplifier, a 2 RU unit, is designed to deliver the power density necessary for installations, with enhanced signal processing that extends its onboard capabilities.

d&b Audiotechnik 40D Amplifier

The d&b Audiotechnik 40D offers advanced input management, including separate Input Gain control for each channel, General Purpose Inputs/Outputs (GPIO), and a General Fault connector. For reliable use in emergency situations, it features system status monitoring functions like Input and Load monitoring.

Its user interface includes a 4.3″ colour touchscreen for detailed configuration and status monitoring. The integrated DSP provides comprehensive loudspeaker management with switchable filters and user-defined equalisation and delay options. Each channel offers two independent 16-band EQ groups, including parametric, notch, shelving, and asymmetric filters, plus a graphic EQ (via d&b R1 Remote control software). Delays up to 10 seconds are supported, and all loudspeaker-specific functions like CUT, HFA, HFC, THC, or CPL are available. The DSP unit operates with a fixed latency of 0.3 ms.

All functions are managed through the d&b Remote network via Ethernet (AES70/OCA), with d&b R1 Remote control software required for operation. Initial network configuration after a factory reset can also be completed via a web browser.

For compatible loudspeakers, d&b LoadMatch enables the d&b Audiotechnik 40D to compensate for cable properties up to 20 kHz, preserving tonal balance for cable lengths up to 70 m. LoadMatch requires no additional wiring, working with any connector type. Cable length, cross-section, and the number of connected loudspeakers can be entered to optimise compensation.

Input Routing
The d&b Audiotechnik 40D supports up to eight input channels, offering four analogue and four AES3 digital inputs, with link outputs. Each input channel can be routed to any output (A to D). Analogue inputs and links are connected via Phoenix™ Euroblock connectors A1-A4, while digital inputs use connectors D1/2 and D3/4, with link outputs supplied on D1/2 and D3/4.

System Status Monitoring
The d&b Audiotechnik 40D includes features to monitor a d&b system in installation settings. The System check function verifies the status of all connected loudspeakers by measuring impedance, ensuring each driver operates within tolerance. Input monitoring can detect a pilot signal on any input, and Load monitoring automatically checks impedance to identify driver malfunctions.

GPIO and General Fault Contact
Separate Euroblock connectors for GPIO and fault contacts offer external control and monitoring capabilities. GPIOs include 8 GPI and 4 GPO pins, allowing functions like powering the device, muting channels, changing AmpPreset, and checking mains voltage or channel status. The fault contact enables remote indication of general device errors.
