The Audix A231 features a 33 mm condenser capsule with a precision-tensioned diaphragm made from a specially formulated, heat-treated film with gold evenly deposited to the far edges, providing a 25% larger effective diaphragm area compared to typical large diaphragm microphones.

The double-woven steel mesh grille minimizes acoustic reflections and diffractions, ensuring transparent sound capture, while the internal shock mount isolates the capsule from mechanical vibrations, eliminating the need for an external shock mount.
