The world’s first microprocessor-controlled, full-bandwidth digital reverberator has characterised an enormous number of seminal recordings from the 1980s onwards – now it’s been adapted for 500 series format.
The AMS RMX16 500 Series is available to audition in our showrooms.
The AMS RMX16 500 faithfully replicates the original 1982 unit’s bit-for-bit algorithms, delivering authentic 1980s effects.
As the world’s first microprocessor-controlled, full-bandwidth digital reverberator, the original AMS RMX16 shaped countless iconic recordings from the 1980s onwards. Now, it’s been reimagined for the 500 series format, keeping its legacy intact.
Navigating and setting parameters is made easy with the high-contrast OLED display, which offers a simple and intuitive interface free from complicated menus, allowing your creativity to flow.
The combination of modern 32-bit DSP with 24-bit, 48KHz sampling, and premium AD/DA converters provides over 100dB of dynamic range and 22dB of headroom. This transparent platform offers the resolution needed to precisely replicate the original RMX16’s digital performance.
The RMX16 500 includes the nine classic programs, such as the legendary Nonlin reverb and the popular Ambience, as well as nine additional rare aftermarket algorithms, totalling 18 unique programs to shape your sound.
While the original AMS RMX16 was known for its ‘all-or-nothing’ approach, with an entirely ‘wet’ output of reverb effects, the RMX16 500 introduces a wet/dry mix blend function. This modern update allows it to be used as an insert during tracking or mixing, bringing it up to date with current studio needs.
The classic calculator-style keypad is a key feature, allowing precise control over decay, pre-delay times, and filter levels, and enabling user-defined presets through the save/load function.
An exciting new addition is the endless rotary pot encoder, which allows you to search through programs, navigate presets, or manually adjust any parameter while listening to the results in real-time.
The input and output responses have been meticulously modelled from the original AMS RMX16, ensuring the same sonic performance in the RMX16 500 I/O stages. Additionally, input and output levels are digitally controlled from 0 to 100% for precise gain staging, enhancing accuracy.
With 100 user-defined preset locations accessible via the straightforward save/load feature, you can easily create and save your own sounds, using the original programs as a solid foundation.
