Acoustic Treatment for Inaburra Preschool

Case Study: Delivering Noise-Reducing Acoustic Treatment for Inaburra Preschool

In November and December of 2024, Ordio Productions was engaged by Inaburra Preschool to address a significant noise issue caused by the hard surfaces in their large open spaces. The challenge was to create a comfortable and acoustically controlled environment while maintaining an aesthetically pleasing atmosphere for the children and staff.

The project involved the acoustic treatment of four rooms, each receiving tailored solutions using high-quality Autex Acoustic Materials. The approach was carefully designed by Ben Wever (Ordio Productions Owner) to provide a balance of sound diffusion and absorption, ensuring a significant reduction in reverberation while complementing the preschool’s interior design.

A uniform ceiling treatment strategy was applied across the three main rooms, incorporating Autex Raft ceiling panels, 3D Acoustic Tiles, and Horizon Circle Ceiling Baffles. The Raft panels featured a custom print simulating Tasmanian Oak wood, allowing them to blend seamlessly into the space while offering exceptional acoustic performance. These elements worked together to diffuse and absorb sound, creating a more controlled acoustic environment.

In the largest room, Autex Composition acoustic fabric was installed on the walls, serving as an effective solution for reducing noise reflections and enhancing speech clarity. The addition of Horizon Ceiling Baffles strategically lowered the effective ceiling height, minimising floor-to-ceiling reflections and reducing excessive reverberation from adjacent walls. This approach significantly improved sound control without compromising the spacious feel of the room.

To further enhance acoustic performance, Autex 3D Wall Tiles (S-5.26) were applied in the main bulkhead section. These tiles played a crucial role in minimising parallel reflections, preventing excessive sound build-up and ensuring a more evenly distributed acoustic response throughout the space.

The result was a dramatically improved acoustic environment, reducing overall noise levels and creating a more comfortable atmosphere for both children and educators. By carefully selecting and positioning the right combination of Autex materials, Ordio Productions delivered an effective and aesthetically refined solution that met the specific needs of Inaburra Preschool.

This project highlights Ordio Productions’ expertise in providing tailored acoustic solutions that enhance learning spaces while maintaining visual appeal. With a thoughtful approach to material selection and installation, the preschool now benefits from a quieter, more acoustically balanced environment that supports effective communication and a more enjoyable experience for all.
