Neve 2254/R Diode-Bridge Compressor

From the first diode-bridge compressor, the Neve 2252, to the early cubic Neve 2254 modules, Neve® compressors have been studio essentials. The Neve 2254/R brings this treasured circuit design into the 21st century with a modern 19″ rack format, ideal for seamless studio integration.

The Neve 2254/R Limiter/Compressor uses exclusive Marinair® specification transformers in its input, bridge-driver, sidechain, and output stages to replicate the sweet sound made famous by the classic 2254. The diode-bridge circuitry produces a wide range of compression types, from subtle and smooth to aggressive and overdriven.

Despite its modern construction, the Neve 2254/R stays true to the original 1969/1970s models by employing class-A discrete circuitry throughout its audio signal path, including a discrete transformer-balanced output that evolved from the early Neve® console line output modules.

Linkable for Greater Control
Multiple Neve 2254/R units can be linked via control voltage link, sharing a common sidechain to control gain reduction. The loudest signal becomes the threshold trigger for the group, ensuring consistent dynamic control.

Independent Sidechains
The compressor and limiter sidechains function independently as closed loops, offering ultimate dynamic control of transients and allowing the 2254/R to be used creatively in the studio.

Enhanced Features
The Neve 2254/R includes a sweepable fast attack control for the limiter, with a range from 2ms to 100us, allowing precise attack times. The moving coil meter can monitor various points in the signal chain, complemented by a dual-color LED meter indicating signal at -10dBu and clipping at +25dBu.

Recovery Options
The Limiter & Compressor circuits feature multiple recovery options, including an auto-recovery setting. In the AUTO position, attack and recovery times are composite and self-adjusting, providing rapid response for peaks and slow adjustment for sustained high levels, maintaining a natural dynamic range.

Recall Software Integration
Every setting on the Neve 2254/R can be recalled in seconds using the Neve® Recall Software application. Simply connect the 2254/R via USB to your DAW computer to access the software, ensuring quick and efficient recall of your preferred settings.
